As members and supporters of The Survey Association (TSA), Topcon GB & Ireland has been working with The Survey School, the UK’s only commercial survey training centre, to ensure students are trained on the latest cutting-edge geopositioning technology.
Home to the TSA Surveying course, The Survey School provides practical training to new entrants and those with experience but no formal training within the land survey industry.
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the development of skills across the construction industries, Topcon has been working with the School’s tutors to help bring the latest surveying equipment that’s used within the construction industry to students. In the latest phase of the partnership, Topcon has donated a system of advanced survey kit which includes the Hiper SR Network GNSS receiver, field controller and integrated MAGNET Field software package.
The system enables professionals to capture the most accurate and rich survey data, and subsequently process and share this data from site to office in real-time. Topcon also recently held a training day on the new systems for tutors so that they can teach their students about the new survey workflows.
Andy Clifton, Geospatial Applications Engineer at Topcon GB & Ireland, said: “Technological advancements in the construction industry are moving rapidly, especially given the digital transition we’re experiencing across many applications.
“It’s really important that educators in the industry are part of this change so that students are being taught the most relevant work processes. Our partnership with the TSA ensures that they have access and training on the newest technology and surveying workflows.”
